President of the Alpine Club from 1902 to 1904, William Martin Conway was, between other memorable accomplishments, an English mountaineer. At the age of 16, Conway felt the urge to embrace mountain climbing and undertook several expeditions around three continents, having even been awarded for his trips and surveys.
